About

Web developer, anime enthusiast, gardener, and lifelong learner.

/Now

Working on RandomAnime.org V6; currently focusing on database structure and automation of data collection. For current - running streaming data scripts to update site data and adding Winter 2025 anime. Also looking into Ubiquity for router hardware and what the Home Assistant integration would look like.

Personal

Oh, man, where to begin? I'm a nerdy guy that loves to learn new things. I make websites, as a hobby and professionally, as well as watch anime, game, garden and blog about stuff that interests me. Believe it or not, I'm married to an amazing woman (who's actually a bigger nerd than I am) and have two beautiful, crazy kids.

I couldn't decide how to write about my hobbies, so I decided to just break them down into categories.

Anime

Yeah, I watch anime. So does my wife. Furthermore, we usually attend a few conventions a year. I usually follow a few shows every season. I know, I know, you want to know my favorite, right? To be honest, I don't really have one. I will say the most influential anime for me, was Sword Art Online. Love it, hate it, whatever, it got me into anime and I haven't stopped watching since.

Gaming

I have a modest gaming PC (2080ti that still gets the job done) and typically play first-person shooters. If we're being specific, Battlefield. Yes, I'm hyped for 6. When I don't want to hop in a multiplayer game, I'll usually play Mount & Blade or Stardew Valley.

Gardening

I do a vegetable garden every year. I have two raised beds that I usually have tomatos, peppers and green beans in. This year I added cucumbers and soybeans (for edamame, the kids love it). I also have an apple tree and two lemon trees that I grew from a seed! Oh! And garlic! Lots of garlic.

Technology

Technology? As a hobby? Yeah, man. I have a local Home Assistant and Plex server. Messing around with home automation within HA is as frustrating as it is satisfying. I'm super proud of my Plex setup; if you know, you know.

Writing

Writing blog posts and short stories is one of those things that I always want to do, but seems to be constantly pushed to the back burner. I love writing. I think it's the coolest thing in the world to create something out of words. Am I good at it? Lol, probably not; but it's fun.

Professional

I'm a web developer with 9 years of experience building a wide range of applications and websites. I pride myself on being a person who is always eager to learn and try new things.

The majority of my career has been focused on front-end development; utilizing frameworks in the JavaScript ecosystem to create sites that offer the best user experience. However, the last couple of years I've been branching out into full-stack development, working with various back-end technologies to really understand applications from end-to-end.

I enjoy working as part of a team. There's something special about being on a 3 hour meeting with other developers talking through a solution. Feedback is the greatest way to improve, so being on a team that values collaboration and open communication is important to me.
